CVMNEXT Construction provided comprehensive services for the design and construction of this 22,000 SF health, wellness and performing arts facility at Swarthmore College. As leader of the multi-discipline team, CVMNEXT was responsible for design and overall project management while developing a parallel cost and logistics model that allowed alignment between the client and user groups’ needs, the design team’s aspirations, and market conditions.

With sustainability as a major theme, the project employs numerous strategies to minimize environmental impact. As builder, CVMNEXT was deeply engaged in these issues, allowing for the analysis and implementation of novel concepts. Among them are the re-use of the existing building’s foundation and footprint, re-use and recycling of components of the existing building, and salvage and re-use of a forgotten stock of stone in a college storage yard. Matchbox was given an Honor Award and The Divine Detail Award for its stone wall at the 2015 AIA Philadelphia Design Awards Celebration.
