In this traditional project delivery method, a complete set of drawings and specifications forms the basis for competitive bidding, and results in a contract being awarded to CVMNEXT based on the cost of the work expressed as a lump sum.

This general contract includes summary values for trade and overhead costs, but details regarding specific subcontractor bids and direct and overhead costs are not shared with the owner.

In this project delivery method, the risk for completing the project as-documented within the lump sum rests entirely with CVMNEXT, and compensation comes from the differential between the lump sum contract amount and the real cost for services and goods required to complete the project. This delivery model insulates the owner from risk, and is typically considered to be a primary means of delivering value based on the competitive nature of the bidding.
