CVMNEXT was honored to assist in the realization of sculptor Branly Cadet’s vision for Philadelphia’s Octavius Catto Memorial, located prominently on City Hall’s southern apron. An African-American activist, educator, writer, athlete and speaker, Catto was fatally shot in 1871 during election violence. The memorial consists of a ground-level collection of sculptural elements including a bronze statue of Catto. Paving and hardscape extend the material and visual language of the adjacent Dilworth Park, creating the first new public sculpture at City Hall since 1923.
